Butterfly Sprinkler Products (BSP) is a family operated, woman owned Canadian manufacturer of premium all-metal sprinkler products. Based in the mountain town of Salmo, British Columbia, we proudly provide skilled employment opportunities in the West Kootenay region.
For more than 50 years, BSP has remained family-owned and Canadian-made. Our philosophy is simple: buy it once and rely on it for life. Every product we manufacture reflects that commitment, built with durability, integrity, and true Canadian workmanship. There are no plastic components to crack, fade, or become brittle under UV exposure or extreme Canadian climates. Our products serve a genuine niche in a marketplace increasingly dominated by disposable imports. We build differently because we believe well-made products should last, and fewer products should end up in landfills.
Three generations of ownership have carried this company forward by staying committed to the fundamentals: quality materials, thoughtful design, and dependable customer service. Today, Butterfly Sprinkler Products are trusted by agencies, contractors, retailers, and homeowners across Western Canada.

Butterfly Sprinkler Products takes pride in supplying products designed for a long usable life. If a defect prevents your purchase from functioning as intended, return the item to us, or email a photo/video clip demonstrating the defect. We will repair or provide a replacement (shipping charged at cost).
Wear of rotating parts is a normal effect of usage. Extended operation of sprinkler head at high water pressures (>50 psig) will reduce the usable life.

Peter Makortoff begins manufacturing the gravity-cast aluminum butterfly sprinkler head, along with all-metal sprinkler spike and sled bases, in the Slocan Valley, southeastern BC. Some of this original equipment is still in use today.

A New Chapter
Frank and Gail Powell acquire the operation from Peter Makortoff, move it to Crescent Valley, and formally establish Butterfly Sprinkler Products.

Frank and Gayle Powell buy the business from Peter. Together, they expand the product line, improve the sprinkler head design for greater durability and longer life on moving parts. Nearly 40 years of continuous operation serving the BC gardening and fire suppression community.

Retailer and supplier partnerships are expanded. Operational performances are enhanced through the implementation of efficient inventory management, order processing and invoicing systems.

In October, 2025 we, Andrea and Evan purchased BSP from Tammie and Peter Douglass. As the current owners, we are committed to building on the strong foundation laid before us. Our focus is modernizing operations, supporting our partners, and ensuring our products continue to perform when it matters most.
